Child Actors Spend Nights on Broadway

Paige Simunovich, a wisp of a girl with almond-shaped green eyes, was scarcely out of diapers when she announced she wanted to be on Broadway. A couple of years later, she asked her mother, “When are you going to get that lady who gets me a job?”

“She was asking me for an agent,” recalled Debbie Simunovich, Paige’s mother. “She was 5.”

Christopher Borger, who sings with a rhythm and blues vibe, used to belt Top 40 tunes in the shower, ignoring the hecklers outside his bathroom door. “Stop it, stop it,” Christopher remembered his parents shouting at him. “It sounds terrible.”

After a couple years of drama club and chorus competitions, Christopher auditioned for “The Lion King.”

“My husband kept saying, ‘What’s going on with this thing?’ ” said his mother, Melissa Borger. “I said: ‘Oh, don’t worry. He won’t get it.’ Then it gets down to 10 kids, then 4. Then it hits me: ‘I think he’s going to get it.’ Then, we’re leaving on tour.”

Now Paige, all of 12, and Christopher, 13, are doing eight shows a week on Broadway, having made their Broadway debuts Oct. 29 as Diana and Henry, the two children of Rainbow Valley in the whimsical “Finian’s Rainbow” at the St. James Theater.... )

Could bare and Don't Dress for Dinner Arrive on Broadway Next Season?

Theatrical management and production company Martian Entertainment, founded and co-owned by Carl D. White, lists a handful of productions aiming for a Broadway debut in the coming theatrical seasons.

While an official announcement has not been made, the following plays and musicals are targeting a Broadway arrival during the 2010-2011 season, according to the official website of Martian Entertainment. White co-owns Martian Entertainment with Paul A. Boskind.
  • bare, the Damon Intrabartolo and Jon Hartmere musical (or "pop opera," as they have called it) which gained a cult following from its Los Angeles and Off-Broadway engagements, will likely bow on Broadway during the 2010-2011 season with Stafford Arima attached to direct. bare features music by Intrabartolo and lyrics by Hartmere, both of whom collaborated on the book.
  • Wanda's World, the Beth Falcone and Eric H. Weinberger tween musical that played a 2008 Off-Broadway run, is slated for fall 2010.
  • Don't Dress for Dinner, the sex farce by Boeing-Boeing playwright Marc Camoletti was seen in an acclaimed run in Chicago last season. Listed for a Broadway 2010 arrival.
  • The Thief, a new rock musical, is targeted to arrive on Broadway during the 2010-2011 season.
Martian Entertainment founder and co-owner Carl D. White has served as general manager of Broadway's Glory Days, as well as Off-Broadways Bash'd, Thrill Me, Captain Louie and Naked Boys Singing. The company is also an investor in the Broadway revival of West Side Story.

Unless bare can get the Helen Hayes, I think it should have an off-broadway run. Then again, you never can tell what will be a hit.

Dear President Obama #293: Gone fishing... [08 Nov 2009|12:33pm]
ac360blog

Reporter's Note: President Obama went to Capitol Hill to push passage of health care reform. It’s Saturday. I went to walk the dog, then to my computer to write my daily letter to the White House.

Tom Foreman | BIO
AC360° Correspondent

Dear Mr. President,

I’ve come to believe that your political strategy is a good bit like fishing from a speedboat. You make a great big rush and a lot of noise getting to your favorite spot, but then you just quiet down and wait for a bite. Am I onto something here? Your team came roaring into the White House in January spitting fire and promising to take on every issue in the book simultaneously. The political intelligentsia (yes, I laugh when I say that too) all beat their heads with their fists, tore at their hair shirts, and swore “It just can’t be done! You can’t take on that many explosive issues in one fell swoop, why you’ll… uh…break your desk, or get a headache, or…well, something.” I must say, it did seem impossible.

Now, however, I’m wondering if you have stumbled into an unusual and possibly effective way to wage political warfare: Get everyone stirred up; make the opposition open fire with everything they have; then sit back and wait. Wait until the public and your opponents get tired. Wait until we media types grow bored of writing about whatever the subject is (and trust me, we’ve become the kings of Short-Attention Span Land.) Wait until no one is really watching. Then roll out legislation, rush toward a vote, and hope it’s under your pen before anyone can organize a revolt.

As pure strategy, it’s not bad. First, I don’t think you can pass a “water is wet” bill without facing stiff opposition from someone these days. Second, the winds for or against change can blow with great fury, but not forever. This idea of simply waiting for an opportune moment to strike may be the wave of the future for everyone, Democratic and Republican.

Of course, keeping your supporters in line (especially Pelosi and that House crowd) for a long time is also difficult. And the longer you ramp up to a vote, the more a victory may appear diminished (“Well, the president finally got a watered down version of his bill through.”) or a loss magnified (“Months of work; crushed on the floor of Congress today.”)

So it’s a high risk game, but you knew that when you signed up, eh? Good luck with the fishing. And call me on your way back to the boat dock. Had a nice run this afternoon, btw. Go Saints!

Regards,

Tom

ADAUGEO
The Story
Good morning. Did you sleep well? Good, because upon waking up, you will find yourself in an eerily dark, barren desert completely unlike any place you've ever been before. Your flesh-and-bone body will be gone, leaving you a spirit resembling your former self. Welcome to Zero Hour; a kind of hell unlike any other.

But you do have a choice. You can escape Zero Hour - and being a spirit forever - if you pay a small price. By giving up something important, you can gain a body ... and access to the mystical world of Adaugeo, a world connected to the one you are so familiar with.

Within Adaugeo, there are four separate sections, one representing each season. Within these segments, people carry out what most normal humans would consider a normal life - eating, working, playing ... and occasionally fighting. Unless you have deemed it otherwise, you still have the powers you once had in your home world ... and so does everybody else living around you.

Once you have gained a body and been assigned to a segment of this foreign place, you will also be sent to a place to live, receive a communication device, and a small bracelet with a tag that reads Collect all four charms, and you may make a wish. This is followed by four small pictures - a snowflake, a flower, a sun, and a leaf. The guardian spirit of your new home has graced you with this, as well as the opportunity to go on quests and participate in tournaments should you enjoy a good fight. There's just one rule - you may not wish to go home. Because no matter how hard you try, it won't work.

Anyways, you'd better get comfortable here. After all, you're going to be here for a very, very long time.
The Summary
Adaugeo is a multi-fandom canon RP.

Your characters can be pulled from pretty much anything, as long as they're not your own OCs. Basically, your character is stripped of their body and sent to a different world called Adaugeo. In order to get their body back, they have to give up something important, like memories or items or ... whatever you want, really, as long as it's important.

They'll then be sent to a 'segment' of Adaugeo to work, play, fight, and essentially, live in like modern society would.

In the 14th century, Dante Alighieri gave the world a glimpse into Hell. But, like medieval Florence and everything around it, Hell has changed, and unlike Earth not necessarily for the better. However even across the span of centuries some things remain steadfast – the despair is tantamount, the torture ironic, pity is scarce, reprieve impossible – Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

This is a literature and live-action panfandom RPG that takes character torture to a whole new level.
